Zmag was founded in 1990 by a former leading engineer at Mitsubishi Steel and Eriez Magnetics.  A renowned specialist in the application of magnetics for practical industrial use, the founder developed and commercialized a number of ground breaking uses of magnets, including Eddy Current Separation. Today, Eddy Current Separation is the worldwide de facto standard method for separating non-ferrous metals from a mixture of other materials.  The founder also contributed key technologies in the development of a permanent magnet MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).
